About Tucker Tweed

Tucker Tweed Equestrian was created out of the desire to carry a fine leather handbag that told the world, "this is my passion". Our vision was to design a product that was discipline-specific and also relatable to others who ride or have an enthusiasm for a well-defined style of riding. How did we reach our goal? Following our instincts, listening to riders, trainers, tack store owners and our friends with fabulous equine style, employing artists to create our embossed images, utilizing leather artisans.   A process, indeed, but the results are stunning...Supple, luxurious handbags, wristlets, wallets and luggage featuring distinct, classic images that represent the time and love that equestrians invest into their horses.  Each piece of the Tucker Tweed Equestrian collection now provides one-of-a-kind, trademarked, embossed options that represent hunter/jumpers, dressage, foxhunting, polo, or the signature Tucker Tweed logo. We hope you enjoy carrying our handbags and accessories as much as we did crafting them ~

About Jill Tweedy

 Jill Tweedy and Tucker

The passion and adoration for horses does not begin and end at the barn. It is something that becomes a part of your life, wherever you are. People who own, ride, or love horses often explain that it is simply an element of their DNA. My goal in creating Tucker Tweed Equestrian was to create handbags and accessories that demonstrate that love or enthusiasm for a specific form of riding, the adoration for what we do with the horses we ride.

I have often been asked what the inspiration was behind the creation of Tucker Tweed Equestrian. The “aha” moment occurred when I was invited to a “Women of Faith” conference. I longed for luggage to carry to that event that was “horsey” and spoke of my passion. I could not find exactly what I was looking for, pieces that were specifically dedicated to jumping (my discipline at that time), so I decided to design what I envisioned.  I grew up around horses, starting in the saddle at the age of 4. Years of lessons led to showing hunters by age 13 with my first horse, Fairfax County. I enjoyed a few seasons with the Sedgefield Hunt, followed by exercising stallions and others as a young adult. 12 years ago, I purchased Tucker, an eventer with a HUGE personality. We enjoyed dressage once his big jumping days were behind him and he is now retired. Carrying something that demonstrated this love for him and all other areas of riding was my goal. Tucker + my last name = Tucker Tweed.

Years of development ensued, which included working with artists to design my artwork and logos, finding a manufacturer who understood the quality that I required, as well as interviewing riders, tack store owners and trainers. Ultimately, I settled on crafting handbags and other accessories, as this allowed me to create many styles and options. Our first handbag, the luxurious, premium leather Lexington, debuted in December of 2011.

Today, I am thrilled to offer beautiful fine leather pieces to horse enthusiasts across the US, Canada, Sweden, Italy, Australia, Norway, New Zealand and the UK. We carry many choices in colors and styles, but most importantly, we present options for riders of several disciplines – hunter and jumpers, dressage, polo, those who enjoy the thrill of foxhunting, and also a signature logo that crosses all disciplines. We continue to add more pieces to our collection, with input from riders, horse owners, families of the horse obsessed, and from women who simply appreciate stylish and luxurious handbags. Send us an email…we love to hear your ideas!
